Our Beginning
During a holiday in Siem Reap, Cambodia, a long day exploring the ancient temples of Angkor ended with a visit to the bustling local night market. Amongst the ubiquitous stalls selling silk scarves, cushion covers and the like, a gem of a stall selling an array of contemporary-designed silk and cotton bags caught our eye.

The bags were handmade by young local women who had been trained as professional seamstresses by a local non-government organization. This work provided them an invaluable opportunity to earn a fair income to support their families. Many people living in the local village communities struggle to get out of the cycle of poverty.

Inspired by their story, Singapore-based Simply Living Lifeshop was set up to market beautiful handmade, fair trade products such as these to a wider audience, and in doing so, help expand the opportunity for impoverished communities in developing countries to improve their economic independence.
